In the “things that I’m glad never happened, yet am somehow curious to see what would have gone down” category, Tim Burton’s Superman Lives is number one on that bizarre list. This concept art both frightens me on how bizarro this take on the Man of Steel would have been, and also intrigues me on the direction the film was going to take.

Well, Burton’s take on it would still have been interesting, at least compared to the Giant Killer Spider “No capes, no flying” version that was going to be it.
But yeah. Borg Superman? Kal-El Kryptonitehands? Steel 2.0?

Covered: Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen 77
Original cover by Curt Swan and George Klein; DC 1964.

Apparently Superman’s idea of BERSERK! is standing calmly in the middle of the city having a domestic. Look at the cars. Driven by native Metropolisians (Metroids? Metronians?) this shit happens every other week, and they just don’t even seem to notice. “Wha? Giant man? Whatever. When it’s a giant man on fire, then I’ll start to worry if my insurance covers it.”
